Colby Community College
Located in a 105-acre campus in Colby, Kansas, about 50 miles from the Nebraska and Colorado borders, Colby Community College is an institution of higher learning founded in 1964. It offers over 60 different academic and vocational programs and areas of study. Colby Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and coordinated by the Kansas Board of Regents.
Aside from the institutional accreditation, many of the programs offered at Colby Community College are also accredited by their professional associations and accrediting agencies. For instance, the Nursing program is accredited by the National League of Nursing, as well as the Kansas State Board of Nursing. The EMT program at Colby is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association, while the dental hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
Associate Degrees are offered at Colby Community College in a wide selection of study areas, including Broadcasting, Public Relations and Marketing, Early Childhood Education, General Studies, Graphic Design, Music, Political Science, Sociology, Visual Arts, Business Management and Administration, Nursing, Sustainable/Renewable Energy, Technical Studies, Veterinary Technology, Criminal Justice, Dental Hygiene, Agriculture Education, Alternative Energy, Biological Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Wildlife Biology, and many more.
Colby Community College also offers Certificate Programs designed to prepare students for specific careers and equip them with the skills to become capable and competitive in these specializations. Certificate programs are offered in Medical Coding, Feedlot Certification, Computer Application Essentials, Allied Health, Massage Therapy, and Health Assistant.
In addition to traditional courses, Colby Community College also offers eLearner Programs. These courses are completed online and designed for individuals with busy schedules and unable to attend classes on-campus. eLearner certification programs are offered in massage Therapy, Medical Coding, Virtual Assistant, Sustainable/Renewable Energy, and Veterinary Technology.
Colby Community College owns and operates the Campus Bookstore at the Robert Burnett Memorial Student Union. The bookstore carries a large selection of textbooks, school supplies, instructional materials and references, gift items, apparel, medical books, study helps, trade books, back packs, arts and crafts supplies, greeting cards, and other merchandise at affordable prices. All proceeds from the Campus Bookstore also support the college's student-related operations and expenses.
Online career services and tools are made available to students of Colby Community College. Career exploration and preparation, as well as skills enhancement, are made more convenient and effective with tools such as O*NET (job analysis and career selection), CareerOneStop (sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor), Kansas Career Pipeline (interactive tools for career assessment and skills testing) and Sigi (guidance for career and/or course selection.
The Comprehensive Learning Center at Colby Community College offers different learning services and academic support to students. Free tutoring services in different subjects can be arranged at the Comprehensive Learning Center, such as assistance with essay writing, additional help with algebra or other math subjects, or reviewing for tests. Resume writing and cover letter assistance are also offered. The CLC also has computers and printers available for student use.
Different student clubs and organizations are open for students to participate in while studying at Colby Community College, including the Council of Practical Nursing Students, Physical Therapist Assistant Club, Student Veterinary Technician Association, International Students and Friends Organization, CCC Chi Alpha, CCC Art Club, and others.
